Committees


Cultural Education Committee

The purpose of this committee is to increase understanding of and appreciation for the Afghan culture in the U.S., and to build a positive relationship with the people in Afghanistan.

This committee will support fundraising events to increase awareness of the Afghan culture; develop educational lectures; develop a speaker's bureau; schedule speakers; develop presentations for classrooms; publish culturally relevant articles; arrange culturally relevant interviews.

School Development

The purpose of this committee is to understand the educational system as it develops in Afghanistan, and to be a flexible resource in response to the Afghan community's request for academic assistance.

This committee will seek to understand Afghanistan's educational requirements, limitations, and expectations, and will plan and implement P.E.C.A's response to requests for assistance.

Student Sponsorship Committee

The purpose of this committee is to oversee fund raising, spending, and sponsor relations, so that all students at P.E.C.A supported schools receive personal and classroom items to enhance their education and health.

This committee will raise funds for personal and classroom items; oversee spending of funds; build a positive, ongoing relationship with sponsors.

Public Relations Committee

The purpose off this committee is to increase awareness of the situation in Afghanistan, of P.E.C.A's mission and goals, and of P.E.C.A events.

This committee will maintain the web page; update the brochure; update other promotional material; organize news conferences; write and submit releases to regional and local newspapers as well as minority and religious publications.

Fund Raising Committee

The purpose of this committee is to maintain financial stability for P.E.C.A.

This committee will develop and implement fund raising opportunities; seek cash, in-kind donations, and grants form foundations, corporations schools, colleges, and individuals.

Finance Committee

The purpose of this committee is to oversee recording and reporting of P.E.C.A's financial information.

This committee will provide accounting services; report revenue and expenditures; track donations; prepare and monitor the budget; meet government reporting deadlines (IRS, Attorney General, Secretary of State)

Nominating Committee

The purpose of this committee is to identify and recruit potential managers and volunteers.

This committee will recruit nominees for the Board of Directors, officers, and committee members.
